THE HYPOALLERGENIC CAT IS THE SIBERIAN CAT
Hypoallergenic cat and Siberian cat go hand in hand. The only true hypoallergenic cat out of all breeds is the Siberian cat. There are a lot of other breeds trying hard to also claim this title, but numerous research tests have proven documentation to back it up that the hypoallergenic title belongs solely to the Siberian cat breed. People who suffer from cat allergies are usually symptom free with a Siberian cat or kitten. Whether you are slightly sensitive or have a more moderate cat allergy, our Siberian kittens do extremely well in homes where there are adults or children who suffer from cat allergies. The hypoallergenic properties of the Siberian cat are due to the low levels of FEL-D1 that occur naturally in the breed. FEL-D1 is a protein which is produced in the catís saliva and applied to the coat during its daily grooming and cleaning. Once dry, it becomes airborne and is the irritant that causes allergic reactions in some people. However, once you cross out the traditional Siberian cat with another breed, such as the Color Point Siberians or Neva Masquerade as they are also known as, you are then potentially re-introducing the genetic link to have a higher level of FEL-D1.
We take extra steps necessary for people interested in a hypoallergenic cat by using a specialized Biotech Laboratory to have our adult Siberian cats tested for their own levels of FEL-D1. This way, should you or anyone in your house have cat allergies, we are able to help you make the perfect choice and right match of a Siberian kitten with a personís own level of cat allergy. This type of care and concern assures you of many years of comfortable living and enjoyment with your pet.
I personally have many allergies. Cats being one of them, along with dogs and even antihistamines. I live with many Siberian cats just fine with no medication necessary. Years ago when I had regular cats I was always sick and at my doctorís office because of my allergies. Since having Siberian cats, I havenít been back to my doctor for allergy problems. I can attest to their hypoallergenic qualities. For those of you who would like to "allergy test", we offer fresh fur samples and provide complete written instructions on how to work with the samples. There is a fee of $50.00 for this service. We also offer ďhands onĒ allergy testing at our place with our adult Siberian cats. If you have any questions regarding allergies or the testing process, please feel free to contact us.
